Design/Build Boerne, TX

Boerne, TX was a unique situation for our team. Although the small hill country town may have a population of under 10K people, we found ourselves in the elementary school library packed with 75 local youth and skaters. All these skaters and community members actively participated in the three public input sessions. What was everyone screaming for? The youth, community and city spoke, the design direction and approach was clear! Boerne wanted a facility that showcased their historic hill country town and peaceful site. The skaters wanted a traditional street plaza layout with basic yet perfect street obstacles. These props were to be laid out in a unique fashion allowing for creative lines and years of fun skating!

The Boerne Skate Plaza opened on International GO Skate Day July 21st 2010.

Final Product:

The Boerne, TX skatepark opened with a huge succcess. The mayor and city council were amazed at the number of skaters attending the opening and enjoying their new home. The Boerne community was more than pleased with the facilities aesthetical appeal, especially for being located in ranch land across from houses and an elementary school. What are the skaters saying? For the most part this park is the most well recieved "street" park in the state despite its relative small size.

Phase I - 8000 sq ft street plaza.

Entrance trellace with park nestled tightly between old oak trees. Landscaping gaps throughout.

Phase two is yet to be designed, but this concept shows the location of the bowl and how the snake run might tie in.
