SPA Skateparks is honored to have served the role of skatepark construction contractor for the Sul Ross Skatepark in Waco, Texas. Working alongside a respected, local general contractor, SPA's scope of work consisted of assisting with earthwork shaping, all metal work and every inch of custom concrete skatepark terrain. The Sul Ross Park Renovation project consists of a new shade pavilion, walking trails, rehabilitated tennis courts, open playing fields, playscape, additional parking and many other amenities. The City of Waco purchased adjoining property to make the project possible. The result is a completely renovated public park in central Waco. Located about 5 minutes off of Interstate 35, this park makes for a perfect stop between Austin and Dallas - Fort Worth.

The new poured in place concrete skatepark has come a long way from its former self. The old prefabricated, metal ramps had became unfit for use and the skaters simply needed more. SPA Skateparks did not design the new skatepark. It was, however, awarded by the City of Waco for construction as the specialty skatepark construction contractor. The skatepark has three parts - a snake run, plaza area and open-ended horseshoe bowl. An encapsulated snake run gently slopes from shallow to deep with various extensions, an escalator pocket and two areas of pool coping. Depths are all over the place from roughly five feet to ten feet. Two pockets within the snake run have skatepark pool coping. The plaza area of the skatepark consists of an elevated corner deck, radial manual pad and ledge, two hubbas, a euro-gap, down rails, and a set of stairs. Finally, an open ended 3.5 feeet deep bowl with roll-in corners can either be a return wall back to the plaza section or even skated like a mini ramp.
