City of Kerrville Skatepark

The successful construction of the Kerrville Texas Skatepark is the first of its kind in the Southern region of the Country and has since led to many of the newer, custom, site integrated concrete skateparks. Today, the Kerrville Skatepark continues to serve as a popular traditional park-style skate park in a beautiful setting. Kerrville’s skatepark process started in 2005 after the award of a $5,000 Tony Hawk Foundation grant, due mainly by the efforts of local, non-profit organization called Kerrville Playscapes.

The skatepark consists of a hybrid of park styled elements and transitional features. The street portion includes a large pyramid, stair set, down rail, a series of down ledges and a replica construction jersey barrier. There is no separate bowl unit. Instead, the design incorporates an open ended bowl corner with hip and flat section that opens into the street course.

On November 17, 2007 the City of Kerrville officially opened the skateboard park. SPA Skateparks co-hosted the grand opening with the City to make it an overwhelming success. Local skateboard shop donated products for a free give-a-way and brought their skate teams. City approved vendors gave away refreshments, provided shade and a DJ for a day-long event of skating.
